Virtual Event

Capturing RNA Sequence and Transcript Diversity

Workshop Purpose

This jointly supported NIEHS/NHGRI virtual workshop was convened to determine the current capabilities, needs, and prospects for comprehensive characterization and understanding of the true diversity of all RNAs and their modifications at a chemical and structural level in relation to normal and disease states.

Workshop Goals

  1. To explore the need for “RNomics” in genomics.
  2. To identify what technologies are needed to sequence full-length RNAs directly capturing molecular diversity and cellular context.
  3. To determine what infrastructure, bioinformatics, and other resources are needed to support technology development, utilization, and validation.
  4. To consider the steps needed to facilitate rapid adoption of these technologies by the wider scientific community.
