Fellows' Career Development
The ultimate goal of training at NIEHS is to prepare trainees for the career path of their choice, and to ensure that trainees are able to transition into a new career with confidence and success. Various avenues are available at NIEHS to improve trainees’ career readiness, and some examples of these can be found below.
NIEHS Career Symposium
A one-day career development symposium held every April and organized by the NTA Career Symposium Planning Committee.
The annual NIEHS Biomedical Career Symposium is one of the largest assemblies of biomedical organizations and young scientists in Research Triangle Park, NC. Targeting postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, the Career Symposium provides young scientists with an opportunity to explore a myriad of career options and to create a contact network as they plan for their future careers in the biomedical sciences. It usually has about 10 workshops in addition to a similar number of career panels, an afternoon networking session, and about 100 one-on-one CV/resume review sessions.
NIEHS ELITE Consortium
The Enhancing Local Industry Transitions through Exploration (ELITE) consortium organizes visits to local biomedical research firms, giving fellows a meaningful opportunity to network and research career options.
