The NIH-Wide Strategic Plan emphasizes that NIH has a responsibility to uphold public trust and confidence in its work. NIEHS will build upon its long history of community-engaged research, as well as meet emerging needs related to ensuring public trust, through the following approaches:
- Engage with communities to enhance public understanding of NIEHS-supported research and research programs.
- Ensure that our efforts to build data infrastructure for collecting and integrating environmental health data include capabilities to ensure research participant privacy and patient privacy.
- Affirm the NIH-wide commitment to upholding the highest quality science through efforts to enhance transparency, research ethics, scientific rigor in experimental design and conduct, and reproducibility of scientific research findings.
