• Better communication of the concept of translational research
• Improved ability to assess and categorize where a given research project falls along the translational research spectrum
• Increased ability to track movement of research through the translational spectrum
• More active management of the translational bridging by program staff to ensure that more science has an ultimate impact on human health
• More paths for researchers to see how their research might evolve and move through the translational research process
