Ethics and Responsible Conduct

Fellows' Career Development

Research at the NIH must be conducted in an ethical and responsible manner. Fellows at NIEHS are required to attend mandatory training sessions and are also given the opportunity to engage in optional electives and discussions about research ethics and responsible conduct. For detailed information on research ethics and appropriate conduct, visit the Office of Intramural Training and Education page on understanding NIH policies.

Responsible Conduct of Research Training

NIH requires a minimum of eight hours or Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training which must be completed within the first year of the fellowship. Learn more about the RCR requirements.

Rights and Responsibilities

NIH requires that fellows complete a mandatory course "Your Rights and Responsibilities as a Trainee". This course will cover important policies and resources at the NIH.
