Irina Alva-Weinstein joined NIEHS, Division of Extramural Research and Training (DERT) as a Grants Management Specialist in May 2024. Prior to joining DERT, Irina worked in the private sector for 3 years assisting first responders with their grant search efforts and grants management needs. Irina has previous experience as an NIH Grants Management Specialist for NIGMS, where she managed standard and complex grant mechanisms and assisted numerous grantees including HSI, HBCU, Minority, and Tribal populations. Irina has a lifelong appreciation for and dedication to public service. She first interned at the NIH back in 1995 as a High School Student intern.
