Much of the work carried out by DTT is in support of the National Toxicology Program (NTP), an interagency partnership of the Food and Drug Administration, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and NIEHS.

Ashley Paragone is a Biologist in the Comparative and Molecular Pathology Branch of the Division of Translational Toxicology (DTT) at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). She joined the Institute in 2010, initially working as a biologist in the Histology Core Laboratories. Prior to her tenure at NIEHS, Ashley gained extensive clinical laboratory experience at Georgetown University Hospital and the Nephropathology Core at UNC Chapel Hill.

Ashley holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Tech, a certificate in Public Health Sciences from the University of North Carolina, and is certified as a Histotechnologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). In early 2024, she transitioned to the Imaging Sciences Core Laboratory, where she now applies her expertise in histology and necropsy to support projects involving Brightfield and Fluorescent digital imaging. She also contributes to image analysis using artificial intelligence and manages the core’s image management databases.
