The Mentored Patient-oriented Research Career Development Award supports the career development of clinically trained investigators who have made a commitment to focus their research endeavors on patient-oriented research. Patient-oriented research is defined as research conducted with human subjects (or material of human origin) for which an investigator directly interacts with human subjects. The Award supports a three, four or five year career development experience which combines a supervised patient oriented clinical research experience with multidisciplinary didactic and other training experiences necessary to develop the knowledge and research skills to compete for independent research support. The candidate and the mentor are jointly responsible for the preparation of the plan for this program.
