The Image Sciences Group consists of the Digital Imaging (DI) and Artificial Intelligence Core Laboratories. The Digital Imaging Core assists researchers at NIEHS with the acquisition of high quality images from digitalization of histology tissue sections mounted on glass slides. This support includes capture, modification and adjustment of high-resolution, whole slide digital (electronic) images using state-of-the-art brightfield and fluorescence microscopic whole slide image (WSI) slide scanners, computers and software, digital cameras, and digital and ink jet color printers. These images are used for publications, presentations and to obtain qualitative and quantitative data using image analysis technologies such Artificial Intelligence (AI). Artificial Intelligence Core develops and uses digital images in conjunction with computer generated algorithms to assist scientists in extracting and translating visual characteristics/features into quantifiable measurements.
These posters depict some of the scientific imaging issues that the Image Sciences Group can assist researchers with.
