Job Description

Postdoctoral Fellow – Immune Cell Signaling and Its Dysregulation in Inflammation

The Molecular and Cellular Biology Laboratory / Calcium Signaling in Health and Disease Group at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), NIH, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join an interdisciplinary research program. The program focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms that drive immune cell activation—particularly, though not exclusively, in the lung—and how these pathways become dysregulated in diseases such as asthma.

Our group investigates fundamental questions in cell biology across multiple biological scales. Our approaches span molecular and cellular interactions, multi-omics analyses, transgenic animal and disease models. We focus on the physiological and molecular mechanisms that govern the activation of non-excitable cells (e.g., immune cells), with particular emphasis on their interactions and the consequences for inflammatory and allergic disorders.

Research Focus

We are especially interested in understanding how cell-surface receptor activation regulates gene expression, how distinct second messenger dynamics encode specific cellular responses, and how these processes can be targeted for more precise therapeutic interventions.

Collaborative Environment

The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, with access to state-of-the-art core facilities. The position offers strong opportunities for professional development and is designed to prepare fellows for careers in academia or industry.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in biomedical sciences, preferably with no more than one year of postdoctoral experience
  • Experience in cell culture, molecular biology, and omics approaches; training in bioinformatics is an asset
  • Strong interest in mechanistic biology
