Guidelines for Mentored Training at NIEHS

Guidelines for Mentored Training at NIEHS: This lays a foundation of guidelines for mentored training at NIEHS, and explains responsibilities of both the mentee and mentor. It will be helpful to review this document as you begin developing your IDP.

NIEHS Individual Development Plan Initial Form (303KB): To foster early establishment of clear goals during a fellow’s time in residence at the NIEHS, the mentor and trainee should hold an initial meeting to communicate the expectations for the postdoctoral fellowship, establish a research plan and discuss long-term research and career goals.

Individual Development Plan Renewal Form (418KB): Because IDPs are dynamic (living) documents, they should be renewed annually to celebrate trainees’ accomplishments and adjust priorities during the career planning process.
