What Is the WELL Health & Safety Rating?
The International Well Building Institute (IWBI) is the leading global movement to transform the health and wellness of buildings. In 2020 the IWBI came together with over 600 experts from virologists, government officials, academics, business leaders, architects, designers, building scientists and real estate professional to form a COVID-19 task force. That task force developed the third party-verified WELL Building Health and Safety Rating for Facility Operations and Management to help organizations address the health, safety and well-being of their employees in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Global business giants such as JP Morgan Chase, USAA and the NY Yankees have pursued and achieved this rating, and in March of 2020 NIEHS became the first federal organization to apply for and receive the rating.
To achieve the rating organizations needed to achieve a minimum of 15 out of 22 criteria across 5 categories. NIEHS pursued 19 of the criteria in these categories and we achieved all 19.
