Protocol Development

A team of experienced DTT scientists and contractors was organized to evaluate the scientific evidence on the association between glyphosate and glyphosate-based herbicide exposures and male reproductive health. The team developed a draft protocol as a methods guide for conducting a systematic review of the non-human animal evidence as the first phase of the project, with planned review of the human and mechanistic evidence as a follow up in the second phase. The draft protocol for the first phase was reviewed by subject matter experts and finalized after consideration of reviewer feedback.

Minor changes or clarifications to workflow would be noted in the methods section of systematic review manuscripts. If substantive changes to methods are deemed necessary to address situations that arise during the review (e.g., the addition of procedures to conduct meta-analyses), the evaluation team would document changes as a revision to the protocol, along with justification for the changes.
