Program Requirements

NIH Summer Internship Program

NIEHS Summer Internship Program (SIP)

  • are 18 years of age or older on June 15, 2019,
  • are in college (including community college) or graduate/professional school at the time of application, OR
  • are high school graduates at the time of application and have been accepted into accredited college or university programs, AND
  • are U.S. citizens or permanent residents (U.S. citizens may apply if they are enrolled at least half-time in an accredited college or university as undergraduate, graduate, or professional students. Permanent residents must be enrolled in or, if they have already graduated from high school, have been accepted into an accredited institution of higher education in the U.S.)

NIEHS High School Summer Internship Program (HS-SIP)

  • are seventeen (17) years of age or older by June 15, 2019,
  • are high school juniors or seniors at the time of application,
  • are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. (U.S. citizens may apply if they are enrolled at least half-time in high school. Permanent residents must be enrolled in a high school in the U.S. to be eligible.), AND
  • live within 40 miles of the NIEHS campus.
