Isoform Usage Two-step Analysis (IUTA)

About IUTA

IUTA is an analysis tool of Illumina paired-end mRNA-seq data for detecting differential usage of gene transcript isoforms. IUTA stands for the Isoform Usage Two-step Analysis. It first uses the EM algorithm to identify the usage of transcript isoforms for each gene, then tests the difference in the isoform usage between two groups based on the method for composition data analysis. Tests on both simulated and read mRNA-seq data showed IUTA can accurately estimate isoform usage and detect usage change between two groups. IUTA is available as an R package freely to the public.
