The Neurobehavioral Core Laboratory at the National Institute of Environmental Health Science is recruiting for a post-baccalaureate position. Our post-bac’s have the opportunity to work on a wide range of cutting-edge neuroscience techniques on many different applications and projects. We employ techniques ranging from basic behavior to the full suite of modern neuroscience methods, including in vivo electrophysiology, fiber photometry, optogenetics and miniature endoscopes. In addition, we are constantly developing and testing novel approaches, such as a major effort to develop automated home cage monitoring, machine vision and wireless telemetry. Training in the Intramural Research program provides exceptional opportunities for career development and a competitive salary. Prior post-bac’s have been highly successful in publishing, presenting at national conferences and ultimately moving on to graduate and medical school. We are situated in the heart of Research Triangle Park, which provides great access to our surrounding universities, including NC State, UNC Chapel Hill and Duke.

Stipend/Benefits

The post-baccalaureate training program funds fellowships at the NIEHS for two years and extendable to a third year. Stipends are determined by the amount of previous experience, currently starting at $41,700. Medical insurance is provided.
