As a publicly-funded institute, the NIEHS is committed to conducting the most rigorous research in environmental health sciences, and to communicating the results of this research to the public. The sections below organize this information into some of the most useful categories.

Environmental Health Topics

This section provides an A to Z alphabetical listing of major health topics that are related to or affected by environmental exposures. Pages under this section provide access to a range of information the NIEHS makes available on each of the listed topics.

Public Health Impacts

NIEHS research has provided the foundation for many important public health interventions and policies, and is continually being used to improve human health. Examples of some of these "success stories" are described in this section.

Science Education

The NIEHS has had a longtime commitment to educating the next generation of scientists, as well as instilling in all students an understanding of the connection between human and environmental health. This section provides access to K-12 educational materials, tools, and programs created through NIEHS funding.
