The NIEHS-funded Environmental Health Sciences Core Center at the University of Iowa developed a podcast series and accompanying teaching resources around the topic of climate change. Now in its second season, the Iowa Climate Podcast features researchers and government officials who discuss a range of climate topics relevant to communities in Iowa and beyond. For example, guests discuss sustainable agriculture solutions, renewable energy, human health and climate change, and derechos – a type of wind-storm common in Iowa.
Accompanying teaching resources, including a listening guide, slide deck, and discussion questions, aim to encourage engagement and conversation after listening to the episodes. These resources, which are currently only available for season one, were developed by Community Engagement Core Program Coordinator Jackie Curnick and intern Anna Kirchhoff.
You can listen to the Iowa Climate Podcast on SoundCloud or Spotify and access the teaching resources on the center’s webpage.
