| Description of Cohort | Newborns to age 17 referred to ChEHC with a possible environmental exposure or a diagnosed environmentally-related health issue (e.g. respiratory issues, neurodevelopmental / behavioural concerns, cancers, adverse birth outcomes). Patients come from a range of ethnic backgrounds and are approximately equal in gender. All patient data is collected through a detailed Pediatric Environmental Health History (PEHH) for evaluation. Patients may be referred to specialist care if needed. All patients are followed at ChEHC until resolution is reached. Clinical studies are designed to study specific exposures (i.e. Environmental Tobacco Smoke). In these cases, study participants are recruited from the ChEHC population and also from the broader Child Health Clinic of which ChEHC is a part of. Thus these studies include a broader sampling of families. |
