Center for Environmental Hazards to Children’s Health (CEHCH), Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul

Network of WHO Collaborating Centres for Children’s Environmental Health

The primary focus of the WHO Collaborating Center for Environmental Hazards to Children’s Health (CCEH-CH) is children’s environmental health research, education and advocacy. Currently, the Center is developing programs and partnerships focused on building capacities in environmental health and training of health care workers in Portuguese-speaking countries. With a long experience researching environmental aspects of pediatric pulmonology, the Center is currently broadening the scope of its activities, comprising also other areas of CEH, such as e-waste, heavy metals and pesticides.

As a hub in an international network for children’s environmental health, Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul is:

  1. Collaborating with WHO in the development and strengthening of the field of children’s environmental health  
  2. Assisting PAHO/WHO in improving data coverage and capacity-building in children's environmental health in Brazil
