David Resnik

David B. Resnik, J.D., Ph.D.

David Resnik is a Bioethicist at NIEHS. He provides education and advice to NIEHS investigators and staff on ethical and legal issues in the conduct of research. Dr. Resnik is the Chair of the NIEHS Institutional Review Board, a committee which provide ethical and legal oversight at research with human subjects at NIEHS. Dr. Resnik also conducts research on bioethics issues and has published 8 books and over 200 articles.

Dr. Resnik has an M.A. and Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and J.D. from Concord University School of Law. He received his B.A. in philosophy from Davidson College. Prior to coming to NIEHS, Dr. Resnik was a Professor of Medical Humanities at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University from 1998-2004, and an Associate Director of the Bioethics Center at ECU and University Health Systems from 1998-2004.
