Job Description
A Postbaccalaureate Fellow position through the STrIDE program is available in the Neurobehavioral Circuits Group at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) in Research Triangle Park, NC. The postbaccalaureate trainee will work on a project studying how environmental stressors during early life modify the circuitry for social behaviors in mice. They will receive direct mentorship from a senior team member and training on a range of techniques including immunohistochemistry, behavioral assays, circuit tracing and in vivo fiber photometry. The position will also entail the organization and maintenance of the lab’s operations (e.g. placing orders, maintaining equipment stock). The candidate needs to have strong organizational and communication skills as well as be intrinsically self-motivated to support rigorous and cutting-edge science.
A successful applicant is expected to have a two-year commitment as well as:
Received a bachelor’s degree within 3 years before beginning the program in neuroscience, biology, psychology or related field
Or
Received a master’s degree within six months before beginning the program.
Experience in the following is strongly encouraged:
- Mouse handling
- Lab experience during undergraduate with behavioral, systems, molecular or computational biology research
