Postdoctoral Fellowships are immediately available in the Jothi Lab at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH) to study transcriptional and epigenetic control of cell fate decisions.
The Jothi Lab use embryonic stem cell (ESC) and its differentiated derivatives as a model system to understand how transcription regulators and chromatin modifications regulate gene expression programs during cellular development and differentiation. For additional information, please visit the group’s website.
Successful candidates will undertake several exciting new projects in the general areas of chromatin biology, epigenetics, and transcription. They will employ a combination of molecular biology, biochemistry, and functional genomics (ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, etc.) to elucidate mechanisms of gene regulation.
Qualifciations: Candidates must have obtained a Ph.D. degree in biological sciences or a related discipline within the last 5 years, with a strong background in molecular biology and/or protein biochemistry. Excellent communications skills and the ability to work on a variety of projects are essential.
Location: NIEHS main campus is in the Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina. RTP is the largest research park in the U.S. located between Raleigh, Durham, Cary, and Chapel Hill, and is ~20-minute drive from Duke University, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University.
Stipend/Benefits: Successful candidates will be offered competitive stipend/salary commensurate with number of years of postdoctoral experience and accomplishments. Postdoctoral fellows are considered as professionals-in-training and are not classified as NIH employees. Medical insurance is provided.
To Apply: Please email the following to Raja Jothi, Ph.D., Senior Investigator, Epigenetics & Stem Cell Biology:
- Curriculum vitae
- One-page statement of research interests
- Names of three references
The NIH is dedicated to building a diverse community in its training and employment programs.
