Toby Lewis is a pediatric pulmonologist, asthma epidemiology researcher, and proponent of community-based participatory research based at the University of Michigan. Her research interests include epidemiology and public health of childhood asthma, particularly the interplay of biologic, environmental, and social factors in the development and exacerbation of asthma. Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges, a medical doctorate from Cornell University Medical College and a Masters of Public Health degree from the University of Washington. She completed her residency training in Pediatrics and fellowship training in Pediatric Pulmonology at the University of Washington in Seattle. She is currently an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Environmental Health Sciences and also has affiliations with the Department of Health Behavior/Health Education. She is also a longstanding partner in a community-based participatory research partnership in Detroit, Michigan known as Community Action Against Asthma (CAAA).
