Superfund Research ProgramWith this 2009 RFA, NIEHS proposed the continuation of the Superfund Hazardous Substance Research and Training Program (SRP) to address the broad, complex health and environmental issues that arise from the multimedia nature of hazardous waste sites. Grants made under the SRP are for coordinated, multi-project, multi-disciplinary programs. The objective remains to establish and maintain a unique Program that links and integrates biomedical research with related engineering, hydrogeologic, and ecologic components. The 2009 RFA was released on October 16, 2009. The application deadline for the 2009 Request for Applications (RFA) for the Multiproject Program (P42) grants is April 15, 2010.
**Note: NIH will release new, restructured versions of the paper PHS 398 application packages in December 2009 to reflect changes in application structure and length as described in NOT-OD-09-149 and NOT-OD-07-018. Included in these changes are the requirement to shorten certain sections of the application (e.g. a 12 page limit applies to the program overview and to the research strategy section for all projects and cores). Resubmission applications must use the new forms and must conform to the new page limits.
