Postdoctoral Position in Vascular Endothelial Cell Pathology: The research focus in Dr. Hennig's laboratory (University of Kentucky SBRP) centers on molecular mechanisms of how nutrition and toxicology can modulate vascular endothelial cell function with implications in the pathology of atherosclerosis. Applicants with experience and knowledge in molecular biology techniques and cell culture are preferred. Email cover letter and CV to Dr. Bernhard Hennig. Science Communication Fellows: Nominations Sought for Environmental Health Sciences 'Science Communication Fellows' — Due Date: September 15, 2008

Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) — The Presidential Management Fellows Program (PMF) has a rich history of attracting outstanding individuals from a variety of academic disciplines and career paths who are interested in, and committed to, excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs. By drawing graduate students from diverse backgrounds, the PMF program develops talent to meet the future challenges of public service.
To be eligible for the class of 2009, students must complete graduate degree requirements between September 1, 2008 through August 31, 2009, and be nominated by their school. Applicants can apply for the Class of 2009 online at the PMF Program website (http://www.pmf.opm.gov) starting September 1, 2008 through October 2008.

The National Academies Postdoctoral and Senior Research Awards — The National Academies offer several different fellowships in science, engineering and medicine. Office of Research and Development Post Doctoral Program — EPA’s Office of Research and Development (ORD) seeks candidates to fill four-year, post-doctoral research positions. Positions focus on the exposure and effects of environmental contaminants on human health and the environment. The preferred candidate will have earned a Ph.D. within the last five years or will have it awarded prior to their Federal employment start date.  The duty station will be based on the particular disciplinary focus of the candidate and the overall requirements of the program. EPA National Network for Environment Management Studies (NNEMS) — NNEMS is a comprehensive fellowship program managed by EPA's Office of Environmental Education. The purpose of the NNEMS Program is to provide students with practical research opportunities and experiences. Each participating headquarters or regional office develops and sponsors projects for student research. The projects are narrow in scope to allow the student to complete the research by working full-time during the summer and/or part-time during the school year. Research fellowships are available in Environmental Policy, Regulation, and Law; Environmental Management and Administration; Environmental Science; Public Relations and Communications; and Computer Programming and Development.
NNEMS fellows receive a stipend at a level determined by the student's level of education and the duration and location of the research project. Fellowships are offered to undergraduate and graduate students. Students must meet certain eligibility criteria.
