Mechanism for Time-Sensitive Research Opportunities in Environmental Health Sciences (R21)

Mechanism for Time-Sensitive Research Opportunities in Environmental Health Sciences (R21)

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is intended to support environmental health research in which an unpredictable opportunity has arisen to collect human biosample or exposure data (e.g., following natural or made-made disasters, health care policy changes, etc). The three distinguishing features of an eligible study are: 1) the unforeseeable nature of the opportunity; 2) the clear scientific value and feasibility of the study; and 3) the need for rapid review and funding (substantially shorter than the typical NIH grant review/award cycle) in order for the scientific question to be approached and for the research design to be implemented.

Limited Competition: Revision Applications for Basic Social and Behavioral Research on the Social, Cultural, Biological, and Psychological Mechanisms of Stigma (R01)

Limited Competition: Revision Applications for Basic Social and Behavioral Research on the Social, Cultural, Biological, and Psychological Mechanisms of Stigma (R01)

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), issued as part of the NIH Basic Behavioral and Social Sciences Opportunity Network (OppNet), encourages revision applications to incorporate basic research on behavioral and social mechanisms underlying stigma into active R01 research projects. For this initiative, projects may focus on stigma processes and mechanisms from the perspective of stigmatized individuals or groups and/or of individuals or groups holding stigmatizing beliefs. Projects may examine stigma in the context of specific health conditions; however, the focus of the work must be on the underlying mechanisms of stigma rather than on condition-specific manifestations of stigma.

Research to Action: Assessing and Addressing Community Exposures to Environmental Contaminants (R01)

Research to Action: Assessing and Addressing Community Exposures to Environmental Contaminants (R01)
This Funding Opportunity Announcement encourages applications using community-engaged research methods to investigate the potential health risks of environmental exposures of concern to the community and to implement an environmental public health action plan based on research findings.  The overall goal is to support changes to prevent or reduce exposure to harmful environmental exposures and improve the health of a community.
