Cockroach Allergen Intervention — The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of an intervention to abate cockroach allergen in low-income, urban homes. NIEHS researchers intended to reduce mean cockroach allergen levels below the thresholds for allergic sensitization and asthma morbidity.
Healthy Homes — In collaboration with researchers at Advanced Energy, a non-profit company that designs and builds energy-efficient components for homes, NIEHS scientists designed and implemented a study that investigated whether construction techniques can effect levels of indoor allergens and air pollutants.
Lowering Humidity — NIEHS initiated a research project that will develop a comprehensive system to monitor and control indoor humidity and evaluate the efficacy of that comprehensive system in reducing levels of indoor allergens in homes. The study was launched with the help of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program at NIEHS.
