Ongoing Study: Sample Collection Registry for Quality Control of Biological and Environmental Specimens and Assay Development and Testing
We are collecting a number of types of biologic samples (i.e. blood, cheek cells, nasal cells, hair, exhaled breath, nail clippings, saliva, stool, urine, and/or sperm) and environmental samples (household dust) at the NIEHS Clinical Research Unit. The samples will be made available to NIEHS investigators for assay development/testing and for quality control.
Am I Qualified?
You may be eligible for this study if you are a male or non-pregnant female age 18 and over.
What sample(s) are currently being collected?
- Blood Sample - Participation in the study would involve donating one or more blood sample(s) that in total would amount up to no more than 200 ml or approximately 13.5 tablespoons. The amount collected during a single blood draw will be 100 ml or approximately 6.8 tablespoons. You may be asked to participate a total of 4 times over a 4 week period. The blood draw will take approximately 10-15 minutes. Qualified participants will receive $35 per blood sample.
- Be part of a research study to help scientists at NIEHS improve the quality of studies investigating the role of environmental, dietary and genetic factors in disease risk.
- Receive compensation for your time and effort (compensation is according to the type of biological sample donated).
Where is the study located?
Sample collections are conducted at the NIEHS Clinical Research Unit located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
