Immunohistochemistry is one of the most heavily used support facilities at NIEHS. Its staff members perform routine and immunoflourescent staining procedures, methods development, and provide assistance and training to investigators in the proper collection and fixation of tissues. In regard to methods development, facility personnel work closely with NIEHS investigators to develop and optimize staining procedures for novel antibodies. A pathologist with expertise in immunohistochemistry is available to assist and advise laboratory staff, consult with NIEHS investigators, and evaluate the results of all routine and developmental stains. Immunostaining methods and reagent sources as well as color photomicrographs of tissues stained with a variety of markers are published on the Immunohistochemistry web pages.
