Sponsored Travel

As sponsored travel packages are received in the NIEHS Ethics Office, a conflict analysis of each employee’s ethics file is conducted to ensure no personal conflict of interest is present between the employee and the sponsoring organization. The conflict analysis consists of reviewing applicable documents that the employee may have on file such as: financial disclosure reports, awards, outside activities, official duty documents, etc. After reviewing the applicable documents, an assessment as to whether a personal conflict of interest exists is documented on the sponsored travel package and electronically documented in the Ethics Management Information System. A copy of the sponsored travel package is kept in the NIEHS Ethics Office and the original sponsored travel package is forwarded to the Executive Officer for action.
