Ericka Reid, Ph.D.
Audience: Undergraduates, College & University Groups, Community Organizations
Dr. Reid directs the Office of Science Education & Diversity at NIEHS. As the science education and diversity outreach arm of the Institute, OSED coordinates, facilitates and participates in National, regional, state-wide, and local outreach efforts. This outreach is designed to raise the awareness of students, teachers, parents, scientists and the general public regarding the mission, research, and goals of NIEHS. Efforts include conferences, forums, teacher/student workshops, seminars, facility/campus tours, information sessions, internship opportunities, and science fair exhibits.
Prior to coming to NIEHS, Reid spent 14 years of her career in higher education focused on educational/career development program design and management, including institutions such as the University of Tennessee in Knoxille, Spelman College, Georgia State University, and Emory University.
A native of High Point NC, Ericka holds a B.A. in Psychology and an M.Ed. in Counseling & Development from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro; and a Ph.D in Educational Psychology from Georgia State University. She also completed the Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program at the National Academies in Washington DC.
